서울 시민에게 ‘움직일 권리’는 아직 충분히 보장되지 않는다. 공공 실내 스포츠 시설은 수요 대비 공급률이 30%대에 머물고, 대부분의 도시 공원은 정적인 녹지 공간에 집중해 적극적·지속적인 운동을 수용하지 못한다. 운동은 삶의 기본권이며, 누구나 언제든 자유롭게 움직일 수 있는 도시 인프라가 필요하다. 이에 ‘여의도 생태·스포츠 공원’은 단절된 녹지와 산책로, 실내·외 운동 공간을 유기적으로 연결해 자연·문화·스포츠가 통합된 새로운 공원 모델을 제안하고자 한다.
Seoul citizens’ right to physical activity is still not fully guaranteed. Public indoor sports facilities meet only 30% of demand, while most parks prioritize passive green spaces, offering limited opportunities for active use. Physical activity is a basic right. The Yeouido Eco-Sports Park presents a new model that connects green areas, walkways, and indoor–outdoor sports zones into a seamless flow where nature, culture, and sports converge.

현재 여의도의 금융중심 지구단위계획구역 공간 구조는 다음과 같다: 공공·업무 공간이 모여있는 서여의도,상업지역 내 공동주택 지역인 도심주거 복합지구, 금융업무 집적지인 국제금융 중심지구, 금융중심지를 지원하는 직주근접의 도심주거로 이루어진 아파트 지구로 나뉘어져 있다. 서여의도와 3개의 지구를 가로지르며 현재 여의도 공원이 자리잡고 있다. 이 여의도 공원은 환승센터와 연결되어 있고, 도심 내 한강에서 가장 자연성을 찾을 수 있는 공간인 샛강과도 근접하여 평일과 주말 내내 직장인, 인근 주민, 방문객과 관람객 등 여러 종류의 인구들로 붐빈다.
이러한 특징들을 기반으로 서울시는 공원을 가로지르는 9호선을 동서 상징축 파크웨이로 삼아 동쪽은 한강 공원과 연결되는 수변 문화공원과 녹지광장으로, 서쪽은 샛강과 영등포를 연결하는 생태공원으로 재구조화하고자 한다. 그 중에서 서쪽 생태공원을 프로젝트의 주 사이트로 선정하였다.
The current spatial structure of Yeouido’s Financial District Unit Plan is as follows: West Yeouido, where public and business spaces are concentrated; the Urban Residential Complex Zone within the commercial area; the International Financial Center Zone, a hub for financial businesses; and the Apartment Zone, designed for urban residential living close to workplaces. Yeouido Park, which spans West Yeouido and the three zones, is connected to a transit center and is adjacent to Saet River, the most natural urban space along the Han River. The park is bustling with office workers, local residents, visitors, and tourists on both weekdays and weekends.
Based on these characteristics, Seoul City plans to transform Yeouido Park, intersected by Seoul Metro Line 9, into a symbolic east-west axis parkway. The eastern part will be restructured into a waterfront cultural park and green plaza connected to Han River Park, while the western part will be developed into an ecological park linking Saetgang and Yeongdeungpo. Among these, the western ecological park has been selected as the primary site for the project.
Concept
현재 여의도공원의 생태 숲은 ‘보존’과 ‘감상’ 두가지 요소를 중심으로 조성되어있다. 이에 방문자들은 생태숲을 방문하였을 때 감상에 그치게 되며 이는 곧 활동의 여지 부족으로 이어진다. 이를 개선하고자 생태를 ‘활용’하는 방안을 구상하였다. 생태와 스포츠, 휴식, 커뮤니티를 연결하여 자연을 보존하면서 활동을 늘릴 수 있는 스포츠 공간을 제안하였다.
The ecological forest in Yeouido Park is currently designed around two main elements: “preservation” and “appreciation.” As a result, visitors tend to engage in passive observation, which leads to a lack of opportunities for active participation. To address this, a plan has been proposed to “utilize” the ecological aspects of the park. This involves creating a sports-oriented space that connects ecology, sports, relaxation, and community, allowing for increased activity while preserving nature.
Program
스포츠 공간은 웰니스 센터, 피트니스 센터, 실내 체육센터와 이들 사이의 카페 및 편의시설로 구성된 실내 공간과 스포츠 광장 및 스포츠 코트들로 구성된 실외 공간으로 이루어진다.
The sports-oriented space consists of an indoor area, including a wellness center, fitness center, indoor sports facility, and supporting amenities such as a café and convenience facilities, as well as an outdoor area featuring a sports plaza and various sports courts.
기존의 생태숲은 생태공원이 되어 ‘참나무 숲’, ‘습윤 수변림’, ‘피톤치드 숲’ 3가지의 테마로 이루어지게 되며 인접한 야외 요가존과 맞닿으며 음이온 힐링존으로 변화한다. 실내 공원의 지붕은 항초 루프가든으로 활용되면서 방향성 허브를 계절별 블록 식재로 배치한 공중 정원으로 활용되며 스포츠 광장과 스포츠 코트들은 농구, 배드민턴과 풋살, 테니스를 즐길 수 있는 공간이 된다.
여의도 생태·스포츠 공원은 생태, 스포츠, 웰니스, 커뮤니티가 어우러진 열린 플랫폼으로 실내·외 운동 시설과 커뮤니티 공간, 러닝트랙 등으로 구성되며 방문자가 단순히 ‘감상’하는 것에서 그치지 않고 나아가 생태를 ‘활용’할 수 있는 새로운 공간으로써 기능하고자 한다.
The existing ecological forest will be transformed into an ecological park with three thematic zones: “Oak Forest,” “Wetland Riparian Forest,” and “Phytoncide Forest.” This park will connect with an adjacent outdoor yoga zone, evolving into an anion healing zone. The roof of the indoor park will be utilized as an anti-bacterial roof garden, designed as an elevated garden with aromatic herbs arranged in seasonal block plantings. The sports plaza and sports courts will serve as spaces for basketball, badminton, futsal, and tennis.
Yeouido Ecological and Sports Park is designed as an open platform integrating ecology, sports, wellness, and community. It comprises indoor and outdoor sports facilities, community spaces, and a running track, aiming to function as a new space where visitors can move beyond mere “appreciation” and actively “utilize” the ecological environment.
